Why is there no mandatory retirement age for US Senators and Congressional Representatives?

Probably because if there were, they would have had to vote it into law themselves.

I think there should be.

I'm watching some of those people and can't understand what they're doing on the hill, when where they ought to be, is safely at home writing memoirs and enjoying similar kinds of peaceful activities.

It's simply wrong, to force oneself to go to work every day, with blown-out cheeks, diseased hearts, the inability to walk, and various other signs of physical and emotional deterioration.

Not only that, but these are the individuals on whose judgement our entire nation depends for its basic survival. The least they could require of each other, is that they be competent to perform this all-important task.

Which many of them, are decidedly not.
